Making opera as accessible as possible is our prime interest. Whilst in our full scale operas we prioritise participation for singers and orchestra our courtroom operas put the audience experience front and centre. Opera is a visceral experience that needs to be experienced to understand. Our first Courtroom Opera is The Trial of Iago in which a Judge puts the evidence in front of the jury (the audience) and examines Iago’s influence in the death of Desdemona. The audience learns more than just the story, they see how the music adds to the drama and that not understanding the text does not preclude understanding of the plot, the emotion and the experience!
