Mozart wrote of Idomeneo: “I may have equaled it but never bettered it” - can you imagine? Idomeneo was the perfect vehicle for our first performance bringing together some of his greatest orchestra writing, sublime arias and fantastic choruses.
In March ‘24 over 120 performers from 7 schools across Dorset and Somerset recreated Mozart’s masterpiece to a sell out crowd in Sherborne Abbey. The students were joined by an international cast of soloists and led by the wonderful Andrew Griffiths.
“Performing Idomeneo was an incredibly special, and memorable experience for our pupils and staff. They gained a huge amount from being involved. Having met the challenge of learning to sing eight choruses in Italian, our choir is now picking up repertoire more quickly and confidently than they’ve ever done before.”
